Distribute the "2" and the "-6"
2(x+3) = 8x - 8 -6(3x-3)
2x + 6 = 8x - 8 -18x + 18

Combine like terms:
2x + 6 = -10x +10

Move the x's to the left side and constants to the right side:
2x +10x = 10 - 6
12x = 4
x = 4/12
x = 1/3

Good luck in your classes.
