If you read the book, then you should know the answer. Butler DID NOT call Artemis 'HIS big brother', he called Artemis 'big brother'. Artemis was in a time wrap type thing for about 3 years. He went in as a 14 year old, when he came back to the correct dimension, he was 17. His parents are now the proud parents of a set of twins. Artemis is no longer an only child.
