lady was at dr. office she told him she thought she was leaking fluid. He never tested her. She went on to work and then a big gush came. She went back to the dr. office and then he tested her and said her water did break. He told her to go to the hospital. She did on her own and when she got to the hospital they let her sit 3 hours before doing anything. At that time she used the restroom to find out her cord had prolapsed. What should they have done to prevented her from going into labor, and stopping the baby from coming early.

If indeed the water broke, there is nothing they can do to prevent the labor. The doctors can obviously be a bit more attentive. She could also INSIST on getting tested and getting some attention. But usually, water breaking is not an emergency, you don't have to go to ER to deliver, you have at least 12 hours to get to the hospital and then deliver (unless other complications like prolapsed cord). I know someone drove from California to Nevada to have a baby after water broke, because the father didn't want the kid to be born in CA for whatever reason.

Lots of times nothing. If the baby is coming that early - most of the time it's better to have a miscarriage then try to save the baby. A pediatrician friend of mine delivered a premie about the age you described. Her advice to the mom was not to resuscitate because the child will have a lifetime of trouble. The mom went against the advice, and she has a child that will need a respirator for the rest of her life. Her brain and other organs are not developing correctly - and she cries and whimpers most of the time. Her quality of life is questionable.

One the other hand, I have another friend that got thru this. She was immediately admitted into the hospital and put to bed with meds to stop anything going on there. Her water had broken, but not all had leaked out. She stayed in the hospital receiving steroid shots (to help baby grow lungs) for about 4-5 weeks until the baby could be taken by cesarean. The baby stayed in the NICU for some months because she still needed to grow and monitored. This girl is one in 5 million to come out OK - truly one in 5 million. Not good odds.

When things are inately wrong with the fetus - it is supposed to be expelled in order to try again. Sometimes it's not the right thing to force life with technology - sword that cuts both ways.

If you are looking to sue the doc - you probably could. But, it is a major undertaking that may not be that satisfying to the soul.

You know once your water breaks there is nothing to stop the labor but as for the other they should have gotten her in right away. She shouldn't have had to wait so longer in the waiting room. Usually when it comes to labor they are rushed right in. She should have been put on bed rest in the first palce if she was showing signs of preterm labor.

I had a chum in severe college years in the past, who have been molested by potential of a few cousin, she develop into so naive, she had no concept, she develop into pregnant. She develop into on the obese section and develop into continuously eating tarts, cookies & rootbeer, so no one observed while she began to earnings weight, no longer even her mothers and dads. no longer everybody is familiar with what's happening to them except they get a good intercourse coaching the two at homestead or in college. i comprehend that many adult men pass by using tremendously much a hysterical being pregnant while their spouse gets pregnant, yet many times by potential of the third or 4th month it clears up and the hormones pass back to everyday, yet I certainly have examine some case data the place a guy has had a hysterical being pregnant, yet it is many times brought about by potential of a severe trauma, which includes molestation or rape by potential of an extensive family member and their hormones pass into overload. in case you're a guy, you will no longer would desire to hardship approximately getting a era, given which you haven't any longer have been given any uterus. And in spite of the shown fact which you're no longer pregnant, you in line with risk have a severe around of sympathic being pregnant because of the fact an extensive lady chum or relative in experiencing the joys or regrets of being pregnant. I reported it this way, because of the fact no longer everybody is delighted with the assumption of being pregnant. Many youthful girls do no longer desire to be tied all the way down to a baby, they could quite have a profession first. And it is so complicated to locate the superb guy who's keen to be the homestead-husband, as a replace of the bread winner.

Once you have lost all of fluid around the baby they should have given an emergency c-section. Then given the baby the proper treatment because there is still a chance of survival at six months.

She should have been hospitalized and put on bedrest if it was just leaking. But once it broke there is nothing that can be done to stop labor.

I hope her baby is doing well....

There was it seems that all the fluid was out so there is nothing they could do . A baby is viable at 6months even 5mth so with good care the baby could live.
