Well, i think u may already know this answer but aren't really thinking about it. I am going to say it like this.... Men and women alike do this because they feel like they can "have their cake and eat it too!" They feel like they will not get caught and if they get caught they think that the husband or wife will just forget about everything when they apologize. Some of them even think that they aren't doing anything wrong. Some will try to put the blame on the husband or wife for them cheating. i hope u find the answer u r looking for.

a wife is always a wife,even man slept with other women hundred times they will go home still...men are just polygamous in nature, no wonder.

Humans are the only "monogamous" primate. Gorillas, chimpanzees (our closest evolutionary relative) and orangutans all live in troops where the dominate male sires with multiple mates.
The desire is primal.
On a more human note...
Every statistic shows that women cheat on their relationships just as much as men.

Because they want to be married to a respectable woman and mother to their children but want skanky whores in bed.
