I have a toy dog that I dress up, and she used to hate it. Let me explain though. It could be 70 degrees outside (f) and she would be so cold that she just shivers constantly. So we decided to get her a wardrobe. She didn't used to like putting on the clothes, but now when she gets cold, she will come up to us, stand on her hind legs, and bark... she loves them. Instead of her being hidden under covers all day long, she can run around and be herself without freezing.

Some people like to "humanize" their dogs. Many people use an animal to replace a maternal or paternal instinct that has been lost or never had at all. People bond with their pets and treat them like humans and alot of people that do this did not have kids of their own or wish their kids were still there. Also an animal can be the only companion to some very lonely people. If they humanize their pet, it is more like being with a real person. Some animals dont seem to mind being dressed up. I think it can be kind of cute for Halloween, etc but as a common practice, I think a pet is a pet and should be "au naturel." If an animal does not go along with the program, the animal should not be dressed up. I prefer my animals to be just how they come but I can understand why some people feel the need to humanize their pet.

The old addidge if the shoes fits wear it, comes into play here.
I have a Boston Terrier that just shaaakes & shivers in the cool mornings. So I'm currently looking for clothes for him. I do want to respect him & get attractive clothes for him. Clothes for dogs is like our own, lots of trying on - same size fits different according to style.
Please dress the dog not your own ego, cutsie isn't fair to the dog.
To often our needs as humans are inflicted upon a dog, this is our companion let's show respect for the dog.
My German Shepherd doesn't require clothes, maybe when he gets really old but I doubt he will require clothes.

Ugh! This is sooo not cute! Animals have a right to their dignity - it's bad enough that some dogs are given those cutsie hair cuts. People who dress their animals are severly lacking in sense - and obviously have issues better discussed with a Psychologist.

No. I think it's cruel. I know a lot of people that love doing this. To each their own.The only time I've put clothes on my dogs is when I put a sweater on them when it was bone chilling cold outside. Their faces tell it all. They don't like wearing clothes and would rather run around in the cold naked.

I additionally accept as true with you. i think of that the animals dislike it lots. The clothing makes the sorrowful and uncomfortable. each and every so often the clothing is probably no longer tender or tender. some human beings prefer to purchase little ones or animals dressmaker clothing just to show off to each physique each and every of the money that they. i think of it quite is stupid and no-possible ever gown they are animals in clothing until eventually mandatory like they are freezing and that they are donning a sweater.

I dont think its a bad thing to dress up animals every once and a while. My dog has a few dresses but only for halloween and such. shoving them in small purses and tiny dresses every day is torture.

Whats the big deal with it? Most little dogs don't mind the love and attention. Of course, if they hate it, then don't do it. It all comes down to personal preference and the personality of your dog...
