You UK passport will be just fine unless you have a criminal record in the UK then you might have a problem flying into US and Canada. Remember we still have the darn Queen on our money pretty sure there is no restriction with the UK! LOL!

As a British Citizen you can enter the US under the Visa Waiver Program , basically filling in the Green Card as you cross the Canada-US border. If you intend to work you need a work permit and a non-immigrant visa.

Depends on your passport. Some countries have agreements in place with the US to allow visas to be issued at the border. And some don't. Best to check with the US embassy, consulate in your country.
