i've been a dancer for 13 years and was a cheerleader for 6 years, and my splits got a little rusty at one point. here's what i did to improve them:

1.) lay flat on your stomach. pull your legs in, making the bottoms of your feet touch. it will end up looking like a frog. then, keeping the bottoms of your feet together, slowly try pushing your legs down as if you were to touch the floor. KEEP YOUR BUTT ON THE GROUND & LEAVE YOUR BODY FLAT! hold for 10 seconds. once you get better at doing this, try holding for longer seconds like 30 - 50. do this stretch 3 times a day.

2.) find a wall. lay flat on your stomach, paralell to the clear wall. then, spread your legs out and push them out against the wall. as if you were trying to get your lower pelvis to touch the wall. hold for the same amount of seconds as you would for the first stretch. do this stretch 2-3 times a day.

don't forget to stretch your legs before doing this!
hope i helped & good luck!

You cant really learn you just have to get more flexible, I would strech every morning and then keep trying to go into a split when your in the pose keep getting further down to the floor to stretch the muscles and eventually you should be all the way to the floor!

Stretch at least 3 times a day. Have a friend help you push your limits, but be careful not to hurt yourself. If it hurts, back off a bit and ease in slowly. You can seriously hurt yourself if you push your muscles too far.
