New laptops are fairly light and normally come with a lot of memory. If you want a fast laptop make sure you get a fast processor and a decent size RAM. Anything more than 512mb RAM and you won't really notice a difference, but by at least 1GB as in the future programs may require that to be the minimum amount of memory.

an apple laptop. probably a powerbook. they have a 17" very light and thin one for roughly about $2800. they are kinda expencive, but super good quality. check em out.
