If you think the Divine Comedy are pretentious try listening to Lloyd Cole & The Commotions. (I actually like their stuff, but Lloyd is extremely pretentious).
Personally, I hate Morrissey- it's not just that he's pretentious, it's the sound of his voice, his appearance, the man himself is a git(I met the Smiths in the 80s). Johnny Marr is a musical genius, but all the Smiths stuiff was ruined by Morissey, so I have to listen to Electronic and the Adult Net.

Definitely has to be Lilly Allen- She is the **** of the year. Arrogance I can take, but when someone thinks they can come along and put down the likes of Madonna when they have only just come on the scene, its just ridiculous. Especially when the person is a total wannabe, trying desperately to be a style icon with her stupid puffy dresses. Sorry sister, you ain't never going to have madonna's influence, because you have no personality whatsoever and you look totally crap in your outfits. If anyone caught the interview with her on Jonathan Ross they would know exactly what I mean, she just sat there looking like a spoilt brat with absolutely nothing to say because she is as thick as a plank.

any plastic pop/manufactured bands - products of x factor and similar shows - all irritate me ad nauseum. They are all essentially the same thing, merely packaged in different ways. They all sound the same and they all sound cr@p. The fact that the media glorifies people like that as 'celebrities' only annoys me further. Ditto the whole Big Brother scenario, but i digress.

My point is, these people are all worshipped by the British media, creating the false impression that we Brits are all crazy about those kind of talentless idiots all out for their 15 minutes in the spotlight. Whenever I see someone holding that misconception it really pi$$es me off

Simply Red - 'cos Capital Radio played them 3-4 times an hour back in the 80's.

Oh, and Mariah Carey - 'cos everything about her is just so false. I don't believe she's got an ounce of talent in her (apart from being able to have plastic surgery and wear a tight dress).

Nickelback is the absolute worse band to come out of the United States in the last five years. I have never heard another band regurgitate the same bad sound over and over again.

Anyone who changes their sound due to cash flow, AKA selling out. This is running rampant in the music industry (an always will). People are driven by greed and don't care anymore about making statements with their music or keeping true to their work. They lose their sound, along with my interest when this happens. I understand that everyone has to make money to survive, but people like Britney Spears who change their sound in attempts to keep people interested and record selling makes me sick to my stomach.

Oh God yeah ! Robbie Williams for me. Just can't stand the guy - arrogant, pretentious and untalented.

Proud to say I've never heard 'Angels' all the way through - instantly switch off.

'Rudebox' - I mean, what's all that about ? Lyrics mean bugger all !

I really just don't like Sugar Ray and I refuse to jump on the HIM bandwagon. May I add that I am a huge rock fan.

Any rap hip hop artist.
