When my husband and I got this Chinese Water Dragon given to us he was given to us abused, the guy didn't know how to take care of him at all we pulled a thing out of his right eye that was at least 1/2 inch. We thought we were going to pull his eyeball out, He was discolored and still is, we got him the things he needs and we have had him for about 3 weeks now he had just started to eat we have been feeding crickets, meal worms, and greens, he seems to be doing ok now but he is still discolored we have UVA light and heat lamp for him. he is still pretty skinny but he is eating, his right eye is still kind of bad but he has it open today. so I know that he is getting bigger he is bright green on his belly but not the top so if you can help me nurse him back to health even more that would be great

I'm not too knowledgeable about Chinese Water Dragons in particular, but almost all reptiles need heat and UV rays. The best and cheapest source of this is of course the sun (and almost all people who give their reptiles at least some sun have a lot of success). Give him some direct sunshine each day, along with a place to cool down. Otherwise, limit your handling of and staring at him. Reptiles get nervous and stressed out when people stare at them (I'm serious!), pick them up, and bother them in general. As long as he is eating, you know nothing should be seriously wrong with him (lots of animals will just stop eating when they're sick, and you'll have no choice to take them to a vet and pay hundreds of dollars for what was originally a $20 pet). If his condition changes or if his eye gets worse, you should take him to a vet, or you should take him if you just want to be sure. Vary his diet and offer him lots of different foods. Vegetables are especially good if you want to bring back some color.

Once you nurse him back to full health, he should get a little more vibrant. If the dull color is really bothering you, you can get some color-enhancers. Drs. Foster and Smith sell some reptile color-enhancers, which I think you just sprinkle onto the reptile's diet.

Keep him healthy, with the proper diet/supplements, temperatures, and lighting (I'm assuming you meant you had a UVB light, because that's the kind you need) and he'll color up. Sounds like he's in pretty bad shape, but you're making progress. It'll take time for him to recover, one thing that should help reduce stress would be to cover 3 sides of the tank, and give him plenty of places to hide. They can stress out very easily... Good luck! Healthy water dragons are beautiful!!
