I really want to go to college, after my whole life of saying that i didn't want to.

Now i am going to have to pick a college....i really want to go out of state, But if i do that i will be paying for college the rest of my life.

Is it worth it? And how do i pick the right school?

Yes -- it is worth it.

A college education greatly increases your earnings potential. Going away to college helps you become more mature in many ways.

Go for it -- it is a great experience.

As for the school -- my advice is to go to the best school that you can get into. Many people say it doesn't matter where you get your education. They are wrong.

Out of state or not is a tough decision, I have done both. The fees are not the only concern. Depending on how close you are to your family and friends the distance can add extra stress. Also if you go to a school in a state with a significantly different climate than you are used to, it can cause problems as well. I would suggest checking the best possible school for your intended major but keep in mind the other factors. Make a Pro v. Con list and weigh out the options!
Community colleges are a good bet. I started at one and now I am graduating in the top 15% of my class. (I was not a good student when I started.) It gave me an easy transition into college life.

Picking the right school primarily means defining what your main interests are for a career. A good liberal arts college is a fine start, unless you want to become an engineer. What are you really good at or really interested in and how can that translate into a job/career? Pick a college that specializes in your interest. Check out the 'college of hard work' The College of the Ozarks in Missouri - they have a work study program that far surpasses most others. Good Luck!

Go out of state and enjoy it and live your life. you will pay it back in LOW INTEREST loans if need be. Educate yourself about the finances, loans, grants, etc as early as possible. DON"T run up or fall for credit cards That is HIGH INTEREST debt and THAT you will have pay back for the rest of your lifel. Later down (like when youbuy a home) the line student loan debt is considered "good debt" by creditors and credit card debt is considered "bad debt". Good luck!
