If you are going to look at any issue you need to look at the time that issue occurred in. The more liberal party after the civil war was the Republican Party. This situation underwent a slow change throughout the next 80 years. The other problem you may have in understanding this is your labeling the Democratic party as liberals. This party is actually a very inclusive party with liberal, moderates, and yes even conservatives making up it's membership.

What sort of degenerative sense of power do you get by spreading lies and Republican hate?

It was the Republicans that voted to destrou civil rights.

Every Democrat voted for civil rights.

Now, get your facts straignt and quit watching Fox News, and Pat 666 Robertson's 700 Nazi club.

Because it would hurt them.... solved problems hurt their agenda.... it makes them look elsewhere to come up with another feel good issue to give direction and purpose to their life... ie: something to justify STEALING from the citizens so they can throw that stolen(other people's) money at what they deem important.

Haven't you heard Democrats say: "we offer hope".... I would rather see them offer real solutions that keep the government OUT of the way, out of our lives, and that keep the government SMALL.... solutions that solve problems without STEALING from those who work..... too late for that isn't it.

well it has always been up to the republicans to get stuff done, democrats only pretend they are working for the people, they get paralyzed with the thought of recriminations from nay-sayers. what is the purpose of polls? Just to tell the democrats what to do.
