What the h.e.ll did they care? They just wanted the gold anyway.

You know why they call them Indians?
Because Columbus thought he was in India.
They're "Indians" because some white guy got lost.

Europe at this time was ruled by the Catholic Church for the most part and Europeans were living in a world with little contact with other cultures. They had a one culture mindset.
When they came upon people with customs (limited clothes, tattoos (war paint, tribal markings, etc.) and inferior weapons) they assumed these people were barbarians and could not possibly have a superior culture or even traditions. They also saw no evidence of writing (Indians had an oral culture) and a language that used symbolism for explaining things and a history of the world going back before the Bible. The Europeans were confused, in denial and in most cases uneducated except for the teachings of the Church. They simply didn't know or understand what other people's traditions and culture were.

I've heard a few a lot more officious phrases than "ancient global ", so nope, now not going to cry approximately that one :) Granted the Netherlands is lot smaller, however aparently it's not doing so badly. GDP consistent with capita then three areas in the back of the US consistent with the IMF, Unemployment cost of four.eight% in comparison with US at nine.four%, equitable HDI figures, a bigger (a million.five yr) existence expenctancy cost in NL than the US............... and so forth and so forth and so forth What without a doubt bemuses me is the volume of Americans calling them Dutch, British, Swedish and so forth at the groundwork that a pleasant grandpart (and even extra down the road) moved from Europe to the US, while they have got on no account visited the nation (permit by myself lived there), do not talk the language, do not realize the tradition, do not preserve a passport and so forth and so forth. I have on no account really grasped that one truthfully! Judging via the volume of questions I see on this equal class with "I wish to are living in Europe" I bet the ancestoral international locations aren't doing one of these dangerous process as to be so unattractive besides :) Don't get me fallacious, I have visited the US, quite adored what i noticed and loved my time there, however I do not don't forget it both awesome or not as good as the usual of residing I revel in right here and likewise realize is the equal for so much of Western Europe a minimum of. Also ancient does now not equate to out of date, that is a contact ageist is not it? With age comes knowledge as they are saying!

Pure greed. They were set out on a mission to take over the land at any cost. Only until recently (probably in the past 30 years) did non-natives realize that native americans have their own culture, values & traditions. They're still greedy.

because of the churches prejudices. The native Americans didn't believe as they did. even though they had a better way of life. Proven, by the way by the fact the europeans were there in the first place, running away from there way of life. So like children killing their parents before they learned how to really act we wiped them out. Look at us now. Did we really get anywhere?

They were fully aware. They just didn't care.
It has always been customary to conquer new lands and subjugate the residents. Every great leader has been revered for this. WWI and WWII were all about that: countries trying to gain control of other countries.
It's possible that nuclear weapons put an end to this practice, for obvious reasons.

Europeans thought Indians were barbaric, and they were highly civilized. Why would a civilized person waste their time trying to get to know a barbarian?

ummm.... they did, but it seemed so primitive that they pushed them towards civilization, i seriously doubt any native American would still want to live in a hut now then live in a house with central air and heat, it was so long ago, can we get over it please??
