Don't wait for your ship to come in Row out and get it.

It was under a picture of a boat that hung on my grandparents wall for many years. As a young boy I asked my father what it meant and he said you should row out and get your boat if you see it as it may change direction and call in at another harbour or port.

I didn't understand, I was too young but as I grew older I started to realise what it meant. Since then it has become my first source of motivation and inspiration. When things start to look bleak or I am procrastinating I think of it to kick start me again.

It was not until my father died that I learnt that the picture that bore the phrase was of a World War 1 motor launch. The one that my Grandfather was awarded a DSM medal for at Zeebrugger.

It's not for every one I am sure but it does it for me.

My favorite one is : The Secret to Life is anticpating the rainbows.

When I was younger I was going in for surgery to remove a mass from my throat, that could have been cancer. I was very upset and scared. My Mom gave me a card that said this on the inside. It really helped. So every time I get down, worried or scared, I think of that, and I feel better

mine is 'we've paved the way, all they have to do is walk.' In realation to little brothers and sisters. As an older sister I had to break down all the barriers and try and get a later bedtime and a later curfew, more junk food and so on. So when they come along they no longer have to fight for anything because we've done all the fighting.

"Life is too short" and the reason why this means something to me because a couple of months ago i lost my dad very suddenly. He was such a healthy man and one minute he was there and the next minute he is gone forever. Appreciate those who are dear to you and look after them because Life is too short and you never know what is round the corner.

I have 3
"Love is like the ocean waves....it comes and goes"

"The future is a mystery, the past is a mystery, today is a gift...that's why the call it present"

"What is love and what does it define, who's to say and who's to draw the line, within this world and all this fuss who's to say its love or a simple crush"

I don't know it just gets to me.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference." - it just goes with everyday life i guess - it makes important decisions a little easier sometimes

I also like "I try to believe like I believed when I was five, when my heart told me everything I needed to know" - now that i'm grown i realize that things are never going to be as easy as i want them to be and being young was just the best time ever i never had anything to worry about

Man can stand anything except a succession of ordinary days - it says it all! Make every day extraordinary in some way, and life is much better!
