Advocacy groups as political parties rarely go very far, unless they represent a really huge community... So I guess this pnvd, if real at all, won't ever go very far... unless they hook up with like minded people across Europe and get a seat in the parliament in Strasburg/Brussels.

And anyway, Democracy is about free speech, free circulation of ideas (even the worst ones) and right to exercise one's political power as one wishes. So long as it is not proven these people have engaged in illegal acts, they are free to lobby to get their pet thing legalized.

PS, if you want people to check info on them, why not give them a start? you know how many google hits on "pnvd" are unrelated? and anyway, most of what I could get was quite laudable, not sick.

PS. No, you're right, these folks are sickos...forbidding the use of animals for meat and leather... It's lucky they have no chance to ever win an election.

Yes I know about them. The PNVD seeks to have the legal age-of-consent lowered to 12, and, in the long run, completely eliminated.

They have other objectives also like to maximize diversity and liberty. They propose allowing individuals, from the age of 12, to vote, have sex, gamble, choose their place of residence, and use soft drugs. Hard drugs would be legal at 16. They also intend to eliminate marriage in the law, permit public nudity anywhere in the country, make railway travel free, and institute a comprehensive animal rights platform.

But you must be knowing that In order to contest in the upcoming elections, the party will need at least 570 public declarations of support from Dutch citizens, which I think would be hard for them . But if they somehow manage to get the support then there is nothing wrong in it. They are at least doing it all with a legal process. And if people support them then they are free to do so.

I agree that what they propose is not acceptable to me, but if democracy is to exist, then we have to defend their right to do so. You have to have faith in the electorate to vote appropriately and to send the message as to what we want in our society and what we do not.

The existence of the party does not legitimise their practises, in fact it has had the effect of creating dialogue about the whole subject, and that is healthy, plus I suspect that your perspective is going to be in the majority, so there is no real risk to anyone.
