I clean my living room every three months or so but my toilet once every month or so. Do you think that I'm being excessive with my toilet cleaning routine?

What fabulous housekeeping! I guess in your case if the rats aren't gagging it doesn't need cleaned.

About every week or two. I also use a steam cleaner to blast the shower and toilet fixtures up to the base of the tank at least once a week. I experienced that it is the only way to get everything on or around the toilet bowl (outside & in) the cleaning solution and rag misses -- the screw fittings on the back side of the toilet seat especially. I am sure that is where the lingering urine smell I have been trying to get rid of resided because after I sprayed the steam from the Shark on it and all over, the smell disappeared forever. I have men living in my house and pee gets splashed where it doesn't belong.

6oclock am Sat.I am an early riser, after a cuppa I get the pail of water with floor cleaner in and I wash kitchen wooden floor then lobby and porch wooden floors. Then the downstairs toilet gets the works wash hand basin and toilet with disinfectant and floor, then upstairs to the other toilet same clean as downstairs.All done I then scrub the hands and its on with the breakfast when I got it ready I shout on my wife her breaky is ready, when we are finished my wife washes up then dusts and hoovers the whole house. I go upstairs and wash and clean the en-suite. That all done I read my paper. Toilet still gets a wipe with Dettol through the week. I do it as my wife suffers from arthritis

I love the question written tongue firmly in cheek! If you kept up a routine like that you wouldn't need to do any cleaning at all, you'd probably be in hospital! LOL - BTW, let me guess you are a student? ;-)
For the record, my whole home is cleaned every week, minimum. The toilet and kitchen at least every other day, depending on usage of course !!

No, you are not being excessive with your toilet cleaning routine. It should be done at least once a week for sanitary conditions or more often if needed.

I wipe down my toilet every morning after showering, then throw the towel in the washer,
Thorough cleaning is done once a week getting the inside and outside really, really, good.
Cleanliness is next to disease free Godliness. Not to mention it smells better clean than dirty.

um... i clean every thing once a week but i do pick up when things get messy once a month can leave bad germs and the living room? a lil more cleaning thats where u spend most of the day and besides thats where company goes

At least once a week and the same for the whole house. It gets a clean every Saturday. I dread to think what state your place is in.

It depends on how many people live in your house. If it's just you, then probably every other week would be fine. If there is a man living with you, then once a week is good, unless he's a pig and sprays all over. If you have kids, then a good wipe down every day is necessary.

Ummmm....no. I clean mine once or twice a week and that is too seldom to me. Just remember that there are 100's of thousands of germs all over the seat, rim and bowl. This is how people get sick. I hope You aren't serious about the living room. I bet You sneeze alot! germs,molds,and dander lye there. It should be cleaned atleast once a week. and counters and food surfaces should be wiped down w/ a sanitizer several times a day(after handling foods on them) to avoid sicknesses from bacteria. and if You ever see black mold, use face mask and bleach (spray bottle is easiest) to kill it then clean w/ cloth and hot water then throw cloth(s) away. It can be deadly. Hope This helps!!! Get a cleaning man!!! ( from a mom.....)

My mother cleans our toilet every week but I dont see the point because she spends a fortune on them duck things what you leaveinside the toilet which are supposed to clean yuor toilet anyway. x
