Started my son on soy at 1 month because of fussiness & bad gas (peds felt it was not a true milk allergy) and I didn't want to have to give him gas drops with every feeding. Now he is 8.5 months and nearing time for regular milk and I would like to try switching him back to regular. Has anyone else done this and how did you go about it?

hi, I just finished doing this. My son was also on a soy formula (because of gas and fussiness & diahrea). I started mixing in the milk based formula at about 9 mnths. For each bottle I would but 1 scoop milk based 5 scoops soy, see how he is for three days, then mix 2 milk based 4 soy, wait three days etc... I did it this slow just so I can watch for changes in his attitude and stools (I didn't want to just wait one day because their systems need to get used to it, and they caould also be just having a bad day). It toke a little while, but now he is completley on Nestle Followup formula and he is 10 1/2 mths (his stools are a little softer, but he don't spit up anymore). I hope this helps for you.

i tried my daughter on regular formula at about 6 and a half months a little young but she drinks nutramigen which is 23.94 a can, way expensive, but she could not handle it just give it to your baby for 24 hours and see how he reacts, my daughter got diarreah and gas within a few hours after her first feeding you just gotta try it and wait for the first sign that either he can take it or he can't, he can always drink soy milk

Try switching him the Nestle Good Start or Enfimal Gentle Ease. It will probably be easier on his stomach.

You probably want to talk to your doctor about how to switch formula. I think the easiest way to do this is to start him on one bottle a day of the new stuff. Then continue to give him one more bottle of the new stuff everyday until he is weaned to the new stuff.

Well for me, I just started to give him regular milk. At first I gave him only 4 oz. to see how he would react. Then after that I started to give him what he needed. He'll be fine if you do that. I hope whatever you decide to do it works out!! Good luck
