When my partner and i buy anything you can guarantee her friend and partner will go out and buy the same or try and get one better, this includes anything from clothes to ornaments even colour schemes and furniture, we once bought a car and two days later they rolled up in one, this isnt just a coincidence its most annoying and in your face. Its got to the stage im reluctant to buy anything in case they think im in trying to compeate with them which is just not true.

Mimicry is the utmost form of flattery. These people obviously admire and appreciate your tastes. One of these days they will develop their own sense of style but, for now, look upon their copying as a form of instruction.

There is a couple in our circle of friends who do the very same thing to us. At times we "play" with them in the very way some of the other answerers have described. It can be great fun. Keeping your actions secret to the two of you enhances the fun. Don't be reluctant to purchase whatever you want....how could they think it competitive if you have it first? LOL

Confront your friend. Tell her that you feel as if her and her man are constantly trying to compete with you and your man, and quite frankly it's the most annoying thing in the world. You don't understand why they do that. You don't care about what they do, but you have noticed that they care what you two do. Why? aren't you two guys friends. And if that doesn't work, next time something like this happens, make her and him look stupid. Be like Oh we bought this....So you guys bought that. Get a life.

Your friends need to be better to show off which most of the time means they don't feel well!! Tell them that you noticed this and that you would not change the way of liking them just because they want to be like you. Try and talk to them and to your partner about it! Good luck

Hire a boat for the weekend, and pretend it is yours, hire a really expensive car, tell them you have booked a really expensive resort. Rent a holiday cottage, invite them for weekend, and pretend you have brought it. Then sit back and watch them mount up a pile of debt. In other words, take the piss, then drop them.

If you like them tell them how you feel. Or you could always buy a camper van and tell them your travelling the world. When they do the same you can wave them off on their travells leaving you free to shop till you drop in safety.

sell your house and all your belongings. then buy a caravan and become gypsies. they will do the same and the only way they can better themselves is to smell worse than you. this isn't a very constructive comment but at least you could have the last laugh.
