The emphasis should be on the reformative theory rather then punishment theory. When we punish a criminal then he becomes more aggressive and tends to commit more crimes because we labeled him as criminal. The criminals are handled very carefully. They must be given spiritual knowledge. They must be labeled as persons who by mistake done a wrong thing and we will should tell them what is the right thing and so you should not repeat the same thing again.
Spirituality, prayers, yoga, meditation these all things must be introduced in jails. They must feel guilty from the inside and not have a revengeful feeling against the person because of whom he got into jail.

Simple reform would be to remove all the BS laws
God limited his laws to 10!!
If the law is in the spirit not the letter of the law, then we do not need a million laws, only 10

We don't need all of these new prisons built - make some of them into prison hospitals and mental wards. So many people who need medical and mental health care are not getting that in prison - they need health professionals - not corrections officers.
Some police officers should be trained to know when someone needs medical/mental help - and to not treat them as criminals. People such as addicts aren't getting any help in prison - and certainly people who are mentally ill are not.
