Chew gum, be late, be too early, ramble endlessly, underdress, overdress, freak out, underestimate your worth, talk poorly about your old job, laugh loudly, look at your watch, cancel the interview, wear too much makeup...

AND DON'T forget to HANDWRITE a thank you note to the interviewer for his\her time and chance to be considered for the job, I look forward to hearing from you...gets me remembered every time...they always talk about that letter after they hire me....

1. Do not be late.
2. Do not go unprepared...know something about the company and have questions ready to ask them.
3. Do not lie or make up stories about previous employment or experience.
4. Do not fidget or look nervous.
5. DO give eye contact.
6. DO practice describing your previous employment or related experience for the job.
7. DO think about what you are going to say before blurting out the answer to a question.
8. DO look confident.
9. DO look neat and presentable.
I would also recommend you either buy or check out a book at the library of common questions asked on an interview. It's best to practice what you are going to say. GOOD LUCK!

You should not:

~Show up in casual clothing - dress business savy.
~Show up late - always show up a little early just in case there is some paperwork to fill out.
~Chew gum.
~Wear facial piercings or ear plugs (unless interviewing for a tattoo/piercing parlor)
~Bring anyone with you that is not interviewing (I interview people all the time and yes it has happened and I work for a Fortune 500 company)
~Talk out of turn or cut the interviewer off. Let the interviewer communicate - you will get your turn.

Don't show up late.
Don't dress sexy (resist the temptation to show off your assets!)
Don't grovel but don't be cocky, either.

Let them know you're the best candidate for the job! Shake hands firmly, make direct eye contact, don't fidget during the interview, get a zippered portfolio for your papers & have everything in there organized & neat - be sure to have several ink pens! Get a good nights' sleep the night before. Whiten your teeth if you have time - that killer smile gets 'em every time!

Good luck!!
