well, he definitely did not come up the drain pipe; this is physically impossible if the drain pipe is standard and has a lint trap; spiders may cross water, but they don't swim through it

Could have got there from anywhere, fallen from ceiling, off the wall, in the window, crawled up off the floor. But its stuck there and cant get out - thats why you always find them in the bath.
Handy hint if you are going to flush it down the drain, put a drop of shampoo/soap down with it to break the water's surface tension, otherwise the spider wraps a bubble of air around it and just floats in the drain until the water stops and it climbs back out! With the soap its off on the biggets water slide of its life and you wont see taht one again!

He sneaked up ur legs and then climbed into the bath! That's one possibility. Or may be he was disguised as the pizza guy and when u didn't close the door properly he got in. I mean there can be thousands of explanations!

Not through the drains, as my mother always claimed. They apparently crawl into the bath just the way any other creepy-crawly gets into the bath.

I don't even want to know it's there! If I see a spider of ANY size my solution is to SCREAM at the top of my lungs! I don't want to watch it, but I need to know where it is,so someone will come and kill it. Those things just CREEP me out!!!!!

My dog took it htere.. He likes carrying spiders around in his mouth you see and if I go upstairs he follows me and always goes for a nose in the bath... I don't know why - maybe he is looking for another spider?
Or maybe the spider hitched a lift on one of those alligators that roam around britains sewers? Then came up the pipes for a sneaky look it someone on the loo!
I dunno!
