My roommate and I went to see the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Begining movie [and i didnt like i], and at the end it says its based on a true story. So my roommate googles something up and reads that this one guy made up the storyline for Chainsaw movie and other scary movies. I believe its somewhat true and that a random guy did NOT make it up. Anyone know the real story... or is it really made up?

No. The movie is based on different killers. In a sense it's true. But the story is made up.

The original "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" movie was "based" (which, in movie terms, means that a Writer based his movie loosely on an incident which has already happened). The Writer "embellishes" the actual concept and basically "runs with it".

Supposing that your own camping trip had a bear wander by, nothing more, well a Writer would/could turn that into "a bear came into camp and killed a young girl as she slept in her tent". Based on the Writer's idea, he/she would have the supposed young girl killed in a gruesome manner (ripped apart limb by limb). They could then put the disclaimer on the movie by saying that the story was "based on actual events/true story".

Have a lovely rest of the day.

I can take a true story, expand a lot make an entire movie and say its "BASED" on a true story. I wouldn`t be lying. Texas Chainsaw was based on a true story, but not the way it was in the movie.

It was inspired by the true story of Ed Gein. He lived a lonely life in the U.S. After his mother died, he went a little crazy. He took to digging up dead people and making costumes out of their skin. He also ate parts of the bodies. He didn't use a chainsaw, and I believe he only actually killed one person. However, he was in the process of preparing the body for more cannibalism. Pretty messed up stuff, but true.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was VERY loosely based on Ed Gein. He did not chase people with chainsaws and may or may not have eaten people. It is thought he was mostly a grave robber though he is known to have killed at least one person.

The similarities are almost nonexistent. Ed Gein did keep body parts in his house, but as I said, those were from grave robbing. He merely served as the inspiration for some enterprising writer.

The movie is based on true events but since hollywood made it into a movie they might exaggerate on some parts such as him killing his victims witha chainsaw.

The movie was not based on a true story. It was INSPIRED!!! big difference!! There was no family running around killing people with chain saws..... Truth is the story is inspired from a man named Ed Gein (look him up) he was found digging up bodies from cemeteries and making things from there skin... such as mask... his mother convinced him to believe all women were dirty and horrible so he developed this fascination with women which caused him to eventually murder two... (which he shot and ate) but other than that he dug them up he even ended up digging up his own mother.... and that's how the man who wore other peoples faces came about... but as far as a whole family killing people... its not true.....

The story is loosely based on a few famous crimes, one being the serial killer Ed Gein. Look him up, this guy killed women and dressed up in their skin. Pretty interesting stuff.
