Iv just realised that at every job iv ever done since leaving university, iv never actually done any work. i worked in telesales and finished everything in the first half hour of the day, in operations and was bored after 10am, a secretary and i did nothing, and now iv been promoted, i get paid more than ever before, and i come into work with nothing at all to do! any one else got that problem?

I've been in that situation and it sounds nice, but it isn't. The worst thing is to be bored with nothing to do. It means the job doesn't exist and you can lose it (even if they have promoted you and pay you more)

The worst thing is that you end up not having learnt anything at all, to offer your new employer. If your career is important to you, that's a bad thing. If you don't really care about that, then enjoy this for as long as you can.

Remember, as you get older, people expect you to know more and have more experience, and they pay more. It will be depressing to have to look for a job after you have been made redundant, but have nothing in terms of solid work experience.

Sorry if I'm a boring old fart, but I found that few people would pay me what I wanted for a job, because I was missing something. Just be aware of this before it's too late...Study in your spare time if you are that worried about it.

I'm so stinking bored it isn't even funny! I have been at work for 3 hours already today and have not done anything work-related yet. It totally sucks! Some people say how nice it must be to sit there and do nothing all day but it is not! I seriously need more of a challenge. I am looking but there isn't much out there right now. I am thankful I at least have a good job. I can't wait to get out of here!

i'm in the same boat as you at the moment but ive had jobs in the past where i've been really stressed - i always think its a fine line between a relaxing but boring job, or a stimulating but stressful job. At the moment i'm quite happy in my relaxing but boring job and spend the time catching up with friends/reading my book- time out!

where i work we are understaffed, and have more work that we can cope with.
i am doing a work based qualification in my own time because there is no time to it at work and it requires access to computer files and work documents, and i am lucky to have that funded for me, since i have funded my own training before now and have lost out on the course due our staffing levels

where do i work ? nhs
