I'm currently working in Africa and I've learned several things. 1. There is little education on the subject in school. 2. Believe it not, in many African cuontries the poor population cannot afford condoms. 3. Mother to child prevention treatment is not affordable(large number of new cases). 4. Some believe that AIDS/HIV can be cured with the help of witch doctors. 5. Few political leaders have taken a stand to fight this disease. 6. Lastly, malaria and other diseases kill more people than HIV and AIDS combined, so it's been difficult to focus on just ONE disease when there are so many out there.
