Go to the reference section of your school's library. Search for THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF PHILOSOPHY. It will have one or two page articles on each of those philosophers -- giving a short explanation of what they did.

Or you could look them up in Wikipedia.

If that fails, there is always the Philosopher Song by Monte Python:

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could drink you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel,
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel.

There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya
'Bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy -- got particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away--
Half bottle of whisky every day.
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle.
Hobbes was fond of his dram,
And René Descartes was a drunken fart.
'I drink, therefore I am.'

Yes, Socrates, himself, is particularly missed,
A lovely little thinker,
But a bugger when he's pissed.

Hi - Go pick up a copy of the book "Sophie's World". A very easy to read, former best seller that summarizes everything you would need.

Alternatively, or additionally, goto www.teach12.com and check out their courses. They are excellent.

Just keep in mind that philosophy were simply these men's OPINIONS, then let the course be easy.
