I dont think so....cos when an egg is laid it is quite soft may be like a water balloon. as soon as it comes out its outer layer starts hardening and forms an egg.

I've always wondered about that myself. My grandmother used to raise chickens, and we own some ourselves, but I've never caught any of them "in the act".
