If you have known her for a long time and she only started saying that now, then it is a bit dodgy. Does she tell this to other people or only you? It's not necessary you have to believe anything. Keep an open mind, the truth will come out in the end. Anyway, if you know her family, you can easily find out if that guy is her cousin.
