Preferably something more natural, without all the chemicals. but also something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Or, is there an inexpensive way to make a cheap, natural dishwashing soap?

Thanks.

I always buy AJAX it has different scents & yes it's cheap or you can try cleaning your dishes with Vinegar they say it works I've never used it 4 that but do add 1c in my laundry 4 brighter clothes & I use it 2 wash my windows & other things as well I use 4c of hot water & 2Tbsp of vinegar & I put it in a spray bottle if you have pets & they spray just put it on the item & they won't spray there ever again they hate the smell.Good Luck

seventh generation is good and natural, but its liquid dish soap. not for the diswasher.

if you like, i know scd bio klean is a microbial solution that eats up organic stuff. it's good for a lot of things actually. you can add a bit of it to your washing cycle (laundry or dish) and as long as you dont use antibacterial detergent, you can use less soap along with that. i know people who use it.
