I posted a question a few weeks ago, right before the regular season ended, and there were a few people who gave some good responses....while others didn't--such as Detroit not making the playoffs (what idiots who said that).
Well, I'm just glad to say that Detroit destroyed the Yanks, and we're ready to take on Oakland. Who thinks how well Detroit will do? Do you think they'll win the series? Do you think they'll make it to the World Series? Who do you think we'll play? A rematch of the '68 Series of St. Louis.......or will Detroit be the first team in baseball history to knock out both New York teams in the post season?
I think Detroit will get to the World Series, and who they'll play....that's tough. I have a gut feeling that St. Louis will take the Mets.

This upcoming Oakland series will be tough.
I know that. It wont be easy.
The Tigers have a lot of work to do.
Oakland's pitching is much better NY's.
Our pitching isnt too shabby either.
Offensively about even.
I think Detroit has several advantages:
1) They are the "underdog"...which is fine.
2) Up the middle defense is strong, and with I-Rod behind the plate we are even better.
3) The "10th" man. Baseball fans in Detroit are 110% behind thier team, and will play a vital role in pumping my boys up!
4) The Tigers are fired up and ready to go.
The Oakland series will go 7 games, and pitching will it.
IF The Tigers go on to the world series, I'd rather we play Saint Louis...that would be an instant classic! Plus I want to see a re-play of Tim McCarver popping out to Bill Freehan for the last out of Series. Will McCarver be broadcasting those games? What will he say when they re-play it? Will he shut his mouth for 2 seconds? (I doubt it).
If The Tigers play the mets, that would be good too....as we would have NO problems puuting a good ole fashioned whooping on dem der city slickers! HA! Eat that NY!!!!

Im looking for Mets v. A's World Series (A's win in 7 games)
I think it will only take four games for the Mets to destroy the Cardinals.
I think the A's are a good enough team that the can send Detroit home to watch the World Series but i dont know. Any team that beats them Yanks deserve credit
gunna be intersting.

I do think the Tigers have much better pitching than the A's. I have both Bonderman and Verlander on my fantasy team. We all know that great pitching gets it done over great hitting as we saw in the Tiger/Yankee series. As a Red Sox fan it was ever so sweet to watch the Tigers destroy the Yanks. I think that the Tigers should do real well against Oakland. I see Detriot playing the Mets in the World Series. I would love to see your Tigers win it all, it's been a long time for them...... Go Sox!

I think that if the Tiger's bats hold up, they shouldn't have too much of a problem in this series. When they struggle, its usually because they don't get the timely hits they need, and can't hit the long ball. So if they hit like they did against the Yankees, they should be fine. Oaklands lineup doesn't scare me too much and I'd give Detroit the edge in both starting rotation and the bullpen.
Tigers in 6.

Go ahead count the Mets out. Most pre-season predictions had the Mets in second or third in the NL east, and most had them falling short of the playoffs, how did that work out? Oh yeah, tied with the Yankees for the best record in Baseball.
The Mets have the most potent offense left in the playoffs, they also have the best relievers of the teams that remain. The Mets led the major leagues in come from behind wins and in wins with the lead after six innings.
Mets over Cards in 5
if it's the Tigers Mets in 4
if it's the A's Mets in 5

I think the Tigers will make it to the World Series to play the Mets. They may well defeat the Mets and therefore be honored to have knocked out TWO (or both) New York teams. Wouldn't that be nice!!

You're not going to like my answer, but I think Oakland matches up pretty well with Detroit. What team that is left has pitching like the A's? Even Detroit isn't as good.
HOWEVER, Detroit's bullpen is probably better than Oakland's pen, so if these games are close in the late innings, then Detroit has a great chance.
All that said, I think we see a rematch of the '73 series, with the Mets vs. the A's.
