My last one crashed and costs $180 to repair/upgrade the hard-drive. I'd rather buy a new one and I mainly use it for school, net, talking to friends and dl'ing music. I'd like to have at least 160 gb hard drive, 1 gb ram, dual processor, cd/dvd and a lcd flat panel.

I have an emachine from wal-mart. It's a good computer, never had a problem with it before and it's affordable.

Bro tip: purchase computing device with out an working equipment, and purchase your very own domicile windows. then you get Suport from Microsoft, or you get it from the business enterprise you acquire the laptop (Acer, ASUS etc.) that's worse and additionally there's a ton of unneeded preinstalled bs like stupid video games or not working "replace" centers. They take 2 hours to ifnd and uninstall.

The best deal on good comps that I have received was at UBID.com. I purchased a $1800 computer for $600. Anyway, if you are looking for a good deal on a great comp, go to ubid. But if you are just looking for a cheap pc, you can go to:

TigerDirect.com (also has good deals on good pcs)

or something generic like
Dell.com or walmart.

If you can build it yourself and don't mind the hassle of warrantees from separate companies, try Newegg, you may save a Benjamin or two. If you don't want the hassle, but still want a relatively cheap box that performs well, then definitely Dell. And remember, your harddrive can *never* be too big. ^^
