a disgraceful and yet shameful verdict. thus, the justice system in this country is a joke. first, jamie bulger's killers had their murder sentences reduced and got anonymity,- an insult to the bulger family and all those appalled at this hideous crime- now, damilola taylor's killers get 8 years maximum in jail. what has this nation come to in terms of dishing out severe punishments to criminals, murderers and killers? britain is becoming more and more of a soft touch and the jury and the judge who came to this decision ought to be ashamed of themselves. i'd therefore like to ask them how they would feel if it was THEIR own child that was killed in a similar fashion to damilola, and left to bleed to death on that staircase. as if they'd care enough- though i am appalled.

i don't care if they were or are 8, 10, 30 years old regardless, for me personally those who murder children, by hook or by crook, should get life behind bars without parole and shouldn't be entitled to appeal against the sentence, at all.

This is a tough one. I remember having similar discussions with my friends when Jamie Bulger was murdered. I find the idea of a life sentance (25yrs) to youths unders 16 a waste of time. I think there is better work to be done with them. Children who murder children has been going on for centuries, and although it's incredibly sad and unbelieveable at times, I wonder whether we're seeing the point. I wonder whether we're arranging our societies well enough - my thought is - I doubt it. I would never condone such madness, but I do look at a much wider picture. I feel so sad about this.

I think the whole judicial system is a pure joke.

It wont be long when justice is being taken out of court,,, cos people know that proper justice will not be there for the innocent...

One simple solution to free space in our full prisons,,, bring back capital punishment on guilty murderers.......

I think it’s a bloody disgrace! They have there whole life ahead of them when a poor innocent boy had hid intentionally taken away, call this justice? Bring back the death penalty. I would press the button if everyone else is afraid to.

youth detention is just a bloody joke too.

Yaawwwnnn!
I gave up trying to understand anyone who condones the murder of unbron children and gets all heated up over one that is out of the womb.
All murder is horrid and should carry a maximum sentence but it doesn't.
