It sounds like the risks might be too high with the problems you have. I know that gestational diabeties is a risk with some pregnant women and preeclamsia also. Would your wife be willing to carry the baby? I hope you get the baby you want, good luck!

First of all, a gay couple can provide just as much if not more love to a child. It is not detrimental to a childs development to be raised by a gay couple (or without a father as someone stated in their answer) There is absolutely NO studies to prove that statement. There are millions of children that are fatherless..every hear of a dead beat dad? There are plenty of them out there and many children with no "father" in the picture grow up to be happy healthy contributing members of society. Also, just being a "father" doesnt mean being a man with a penis between your legs. Being a "father" is being a PARENT. In a gay relationship, there are 2 parents, so the child is missing out on NOTHING. Whats between your legs does not define how good of a parent you will be :)
With that said, having high bp prior to pregnancy can most likely cause you to experience pregnancy induced hypertension, or Preeclampsia. You would most likely have to be put on a bp medication if it becomes out of control. You would be considered a high risk pregnancy and you would/should be monitored closely. Preeclampsia is cause for inducement, can cause the mother to have a stroke. I had this (i was a multiple pregnancy though) at the end of my pregnancy and this was the cause for my inducement at 37 1/2 weeks,
As far as the paxil goes, I'm not sure if that particular antidepressant is safe during pregnancy. I do know that women who are pregnant do experience prenatal depression, very similiar to post partum depression and are put on anti depressants during their pregnancy, So their must be a brand that is relatively safe to take during pregnancy.
If you are dead set on this, and your doctor is not being supportive. Switch doctors. Just because you have high blood pressure and are on an anti depressant does not mean you should not be entitled to become pregnant. Good luck to you :)

First I find it very interesting that most people automatically jump to adoption because of what sounds like to me your sexual orientation. I find that very offensive. My best friend is a lesbian and in a wonderful loving relationship better than a lot of straight relationships I have seen. Anyway, there are tons of things doctors can do to help you get pregnant and stay pregnant and healthy, I would get a second opinion and perhaps see a specialist who can help you. The best of luck to you and your wife!

I wish adoption was an option for you, but unfortunatley it probabley isn't (especially if you live in FL) unless you are willing to lie about your sexual orientation. It sounds like it might be to big a risk for you and the baby for you to be pregnant. I understand a women's want to experience that, but I agree with a previous post: Would your partner be willing to carry a baby for the both of you? Sounds like this might be your best bet and you'll love the child as if s/he came from you own womb.

I wish I could think like you Candice J, but I don't think it's the appropriate environment for kids, it doesn't matter how great of a parent you are or how great of a relationship you have with your kids, they will get to a point where they will feel different and not normal like most kids. Especially after been treated different or weird. How do you explain it your kids? How do you tell them that they will probably never get to meet their dad because who knows who he is?

Why not adopt?
You risk pregnancy-onset diabetes, birth defects due to the depression medication, and ecclampsia due to the hypertension.
Kids are fun, but pregnancy is way overrated, imo, anyway.

i dont understand if u r a lesbian r u married to the opposite sex or the same sex, being pregnant is not important the satisfaction of looking after the child is more important and the child needs both the parents for a normal growth

make sure that you monitor your health and that you are healthy enough to even carry a child without risks to you or the baby, good luck.
