why ??????????????????/?

why wont my desktop background load?? i have tried to change my desktop background several times but all it will let me do is chang eit to a solid color and i have no idea why, any help would be greatly appreciated . thanks

The Windows background is just that - a background.

If you want to add graphics, change the screensaver and/or wallpaper.

Keep this in mind, although these can be fun, they run in the background and are using memory. Complex screensavers and wallpaper can severely sloooooooooooooow you down.
