Try not to have a knee jerk reaction to this. Peace is not conservative or liberal. Peaceful solutions benefit all people. Think about it. Does it make sense? Is it something worth having?

Thoughtful replies only please.

New Speak. Just like the Department of De fence is the aggressor of war.

All the departments that we have now are in favor of peace, Even the war dept, in spite of the name, is not a blood thirsty bunch wondering who they can slaughter next. The armed forces want peace as badly as anyone.
War is forced on us by those attempting to harm us or nations that are unable to defend themselves. If we permit a rogue nation to continue expanding by grabbing up smaller nations the time will come when we'll be attacked, and the job will be much harder.
Naming a department "peace" won't bring peace, but it will require a lot of bucks.

As Morgy suggests, Minipax or Ministry for Peace is straight out of Orwells 1984. Will there be the establishment of 'thought police', too.
It sounds like another load of over paid civil servants, and jobs for the boys to me. Might I point out that the Pentagon (or Ministry of Defence in the UK) is not actually designed for just warfare, otherwise we would only have them during wars, they are there to support peace and civil stability. Shame they're not doing it.

Sounds like another tax dollar drain filled with ineffective employees you cannot fire.

Er....isn't that what the United Nations is supposed to be for?
