If you were planning to sell your home would applying hardwood floors vs carpet increase the value of the home more? Or does it all depend on the person?

The only thing that will really add any value to your home is increasing the square footage. Ask an appraiser. You will get laughed at if you think flooring is going to increase your value. Paint, counters, etc. all make for a nice impression.

Flooring is a personal preference. If you have new floors down your house will show better.

Hardwood floors increase the value of the home. It is easy to see why. Two years ago I put 950 square feet of hardwood floors in the main living areas of my home. Halls, living room, kitchen den. I then had new carpeting put into the baby's rooms. After 2 years the hardwood still looks great but the carpeting needs replacing. Nothing was ever eaten or drank in their rooms, it is just spit up from 3 babies but now it needs replacing. So hardwood holds up much better.

Harwood floors definately add value . You may want to limit it to rooms like living room den , foyer etc. Bedrooms people like carpet mostly and in kitchens and baths tile is preferable
