"How long is a Piece of String??"
We posed this age old question to our regular team of brainy people, and they relished the challenge. Here's what they had to say about it...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After deciding to tackle this head-on, and after several days in confinement, our professors reappeared with several suggestions to the paradoxical problem.
They examined a few possibilities. First, they considered that the length of a piece of string is a fair bit but that was too vague. Next we imagined that the length of a piece of string is five centimetres but this can't work in all cases.
After lunch they reasoned that a piece of string could be just long enough to metabolise successfully without inducing vomiting. After a lengthy and graphically detailed discussion about this we went away to bring up our lunches. As well as rejecting our food, we firmly rejected this idea.
Then they thought that the length of a piece of string could be just long enough to strangle someone such as your boss. We liked this idea very much until the boss walked by in which case it was quickly changed to "the length of a piece of string is exactly half the size of twice its length".
Whatever. After this we decided to give up because our brains had turned into cabbage. We say sorted, respect due, and we had to drag the protesting brainy people away from the problem to prevent brain haemorrhaging

The whole point of this question is to show that the answer could be anything.
BUT if you want to be really clever the length of any piece of string is:
Half its length multiplied by 2.

If you walk from to here to there and back again, then measure the string.
