Especially the youth.

It does mine.

The best is when these same people try to regurgitate what they've seen without ever thinking critically about the information they were presented.

Its a pretty sorry state for American youth.
You all better wake up to whats really going on.

Agree? Disagree?

Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly just as bad, although, to their credit they have advanced educations- while Jon Stewart is only a comedian.

Agree. I wouldn't put it solely on the youth though. News channels have to have the music and graphics now too. Do the American people have an increasing case of group ADD? Must we always be entertained? If you get your news from Comedy Central do you know you have a problem? LOL

No more than many people of all ages getting their "facts" from people like Ann colter and Bill O' Reilly.

(Response):Glad to see you recognize the idiocy of right wing talk show hosts as well.I don't really care for Jon Stewart, but education level is not always a mean standard by which to judge a person's perceptiveness.Your point regarding the lack of critical thinking in this country is well taken.Infact, I would go so far as to say that it is our biggest problem.

Foreign policies is what discourages my confidence in America, not the Daily Show. Which by the way isn't the 'News', it's just an entertaining spin on the news. Frankly I have yet to encounter an unbiased viewpoint from a news program, so I wouldn't take anything they say too seriously. Your best bet is to watch your own, read newspapers from other countries and try to get the best overall opinion you can from multiple sources.

But who has that kind of time?

I would rather they get the news from a comedian than from Fox News. Jon Stewart makes it clear that he is a comedian. There is no way to mistake his comments for anything but comedy and sarcasm. But Fox or Faux News pretends to be the real thing. No one would confuse The Daily Show with real news, hilarious as it is.

Satire can be informative, it challenges the perpetuated government propaganda. I personally think John Stewarts tirades are more honest and factual than any Rupert Murdoch editorial.
If the American youth watch the 'Daily Show' and read the papers, they may be able to decide the middle-ground truth that both sides are distorting; at least 1 states that his view is for comic affect, the other claims his is gospel truth.
Stop picking on the young, they are your future, and how many 40 something people are fighting on your front-line?

Jon Stewart is just another washed up (and Jewish) comedian who got a second act by catering to cynicism. He's following in the footsteps of Al Franken (who actually thinks he's a politician) and Bill Maher.
Unoriginal, but it's a gold mine worth digging in.

Yes is does have a great influence on discouragment because it only targets the Republican party it seems like, you only hear bad/funny things about George Bush and Dick Chaney.

I don't think you have ever regurgitated anything. And if the youth of america understands political satire, I am proud of them!
