Bad things would be like drugs and homework. Good things might be extra circular activities.

I think the main thing that effects High School students are Peer preasure and bullying and sex. These effects cause low self esteem, poor self worth. Peer preasure can be many different things.... drugs, alcohol, etc. Now days , kids are taught (not by parents but by society ) that they must look like a hollywood star. It's plastered all over t.v , magazines, that one must be almost and an unhealthy low weight ...to be considered pretty. Students will be very mean and if you don't look a certain way or act a certain way or if you are from a poor family then you aren't in the "in crowd"... Sadly this is true, not only in high school but even in elementary school too.
Another effect is bullying ... Bullying also causes low self esteem . ... If you are different , you are considered a target In most cases. Some bullying has led to suicides, school shooting , fighting and it's very sad to know these things have became almost common .
Possitive things could consist of getting good grades or being really good at a sport etc and receiving a scholorship. HIgh School is a great time to meet and make freinds. Of course you have to study hard and pay attention in your classes but high school is a stepping stone to adulthood as well. Lots of people really grow during these years. Not only do they try and figure out who they are and what they want to go to college to become but they learn responsibilities and can prepare themselves for their future.

I don't know if this will help you with your paper as they are mearly just opinions from me but I wish you the best .

Blessings to you and Good Luck on your paper article!

Besides of the usual peer pressure, drugs, feeling you have to wear expensive clothes to fit in, looks, and sex (whether or not you have to do it and with whom) the most common for teens is lack of sleep, not having enough time for studies, the feeling of not fitting in, and not having anything for BREAKFAST. Home life can also very much effect any student when both parents (or single parent) are working and can't be home as much as they would like or if there is discord in the family unit, this can make a big difference in the teens social and academic skills. Sharing dinner together and talking about every-ones day helps immensely.

peer pressure for drugs and sex, a kid feeling like he might not be as smart as his friends, or who feels they have to work harder than everyone else, extra curricular activities can be great in self esteem but they can also add to stress as it takes study/homework time away. A lot of teachers (even in high school) think they're the only teacher and they can assign all the homework they want. God, the list goes on and on

Cultivation of reading habit is one thing which effect high school studies. If you have good reading habit, then you will be able to study further. Lack of reading effects badly on high school studies.
