you can buy, definitely. law doesnt prohibit it. better to go for an apartment as u can check the prices online (of major companies) and then approach. else they might rip u (being a malayalee myself, i know the truth) even brokers/dealers cheat. if you are interested only in land, get some trusted associate of urs (malalayee friend or somebody else, not a foreigner) to go and buy it on his name and then transfer it to ur name. the real price is quoted only to kerala residents.

You can certainly buy an apartment in Trivandrum as a British Citizen, there is no problem in that. But if you are investing in apartments, then you should be sure about the builder. Artech Realtors is the best builder in Trivandrum with several projects with each one designed to suit a particular need of the user. Thus there is certainly an apartment from Artech Realtors that would fit your requirements. You can know more about Artech Realtors and their various projects here – http://artechrealtors.com.

me and my hubby was trying to buy property out there and i din't like the looks of it as soon as they saw the white skin the price went over the top and it was like we were asked for 3 times more then what an indian would pay for it.
so the best you can do is have the bank do the paying for you just take it up with the hsbc bank we did it that way.trust me im from india but i dont look indian and they thought i did not understand the language and i told my hubby the minute you see me stand and push my char back know that we are getting coned into something thats way over the top.i realy help me hubby from getting ripped off there.just go through the hsbc bank open an account here and you can open an account there too,so long as you have your documents correctly kept and please keep your hands in your pockets.
and please make sure you go out there and see what you want to buy and dont buy anything off plan coz' some of them plans are for like 3 to 4 years time to come up not there and then.
good luck.
