Presumeably this is happening because there is too much pressure in the system. I'm new to this house so I do not know if it happened last year. I turned on the based board heat on Friday. It starting letting water out on Sunday about 7am. I turned the heat off, but it did not stop the leak. Can you help?

Expansion tank maintains pressure but should not be totally full, check the water level of the boiler makeup valve for problems, its got to be in that area of operation, good luck

I assume you are talking about a pressurised system such as a combination boiler and not an open vented one.

The expansion tank could be overpressurising the system due to the make up water valve is passing. There should be a filling loop to charge the system from the mains water the loop should never be left connected when not in use. Make sure it has not been left on and that the make up valve is not passing.

There is also a pressure gauge on the boiler that shows a working pressure range on the dial check the pressure is within this range when the system is cold and then check again when hot. It shouldn't have increased.

i might recommend 2 a threat faults. Pump tension too intense Boiler sts is defective in the experience that your header tank is the %type.then shop an eye fixed on it as I even have customary those tanks to warp from continuous warm water working in them , and warm water coming in the process the ceiling then. The water point in a Header tank ought to purely be approximately 4 inches, because it purely tops up any misplaced water in the equipment playstation . yet another fault would be a jammed motorised valve . those aere placed in the displaying cabinet by making use of the nice and cozy copper tank. they are bitches for jamming up.

All you can do is call a technician to look at the relief valve on the expansion tank to make sure it is set at the correct pressure rating. I would expect the system to take some time to stabilize at a higher temperature then ambient, but would expect this to reach equalibrium after a few hours.
