When I sleep, I'm dead to the world...a 747 could land in my kitchen (not that my kitchen is that big) and I would never know. This annoys my wife to no end! "Why do I always have to get up with the kids?", "Why don't you move when I tell you to stop hogging the bed?", "Wayh, wayh, wayh?"

Is there a way to sleep 'lighter'? I don't think so, but maybe someone could enlighten me!

Helium! Good one!

My wife is a super-light sleeper! She wakes up for anything, and then can't get back to sleep.

Maybe I should go to bed before 2 AM...I get up at 6 or 7 AM...

Just to contrast your problem, my wife calls me "the human rotisserie" for all the tossing and turning I do at night. I have sleep apnea, and don't sleep very soundly at all. We've taken to sleeping in the same bed, but with separate blankets, so I won't hog hers. I doubt there's any way to sleep lighter per se, but maybe you could put up or recognize some marker on your head board, that if you touch it or feel it in the middle of the night, you know you've strayed onto the wife's side of the bed. Only other suggestion might be to take a nap earlier in the afternoon/evening so you don't require as much sleep in the first place. If you need to take your turn getting up with the kids, I don't know anything besides an alarm clock that might work for that. Good luck, sleep well

Well if I didn't already know you were so skinny I'd tell you to lose weight. But since that won't work, I'll suggest a softer pillow. Maybe the rock you are using is too heavy. Or perhaps your thoughts are weighing too heavy on your mind and you sleep to avoid greater issues? Solve them and perhaps you'll "lighten up."

But the truth is.....aren't you supposed to be "dead to the world" when you sleep? If it was an emergency with your kids, I'm sure you'd be alert in seconds. As is, tell her to stop her whining. You are lucky to at least get 4 or 5 hours sleep.......so you need it all without waking up at the slightest drop of a hat.

That.......or get ready to get rudely awaken by a frying pan. Good luck with that. *smile*

I don't think you can sleep lighter but perhaps you could tell her to wake you up next time the kids need help or if you are hogging the bed.

sorry bucko, its genetic, i'm the same way .. other than getting a real uncomfortable bed, there is no solution ... i suggest you ask her if she wants to substitute you being crabby and irritable for your lack of sleep? the other option is seperate beds or seperate rooms(which may be a good idea if she is that much of a shrew)

Your wife needs a cattle prod to get your attention! This isn't sleep, you are in a coma.
