Start uninstalling stuff that IS important, or go through and delete some of your personal files/movies/whatever that is taking up all that space. If you have a modern computer (i.e. within last 5 years), i can almost guarantee that there are at least large pictures if not videos taking up that room, because most modern hard drive are extremely large. Just delete some of that stuff, copy it to CD/DVD, and you should be fine.

Defrag, as in defragment your HD. Before you do, you should run a spybot to get rid of any spyware and a virus scan to get rid of any viruses. The other thing you can eliminate or clean out is your "termporary internet files" and your cookie file. Cookies you may want to selectively delete, keeping the ones for the sites you frequent. If your word-processor (and possibly your spreadsheet, but it's usually word-processors that do this) are set to save original file, which is useful for returning to an unscrewed-up version when you're editing if you also have automatic back-up set, you can probably delete a bunch of those. When you're done defrag.

In order of easiest/cheapest to hardest/most expensive:

delete stuff, as mentioned above, or copy it to a CD, then delete it.

defrag the hard drive. You might even want to do this twice.

buy a larger disk drive.

Install a second hard drive and save all your files on it, If you save a lot of music files they will fill your hard drive fast, you could burn the least used files to disk and store them
