A spare PC is handy when you want to do some experimental work, that you would not want to disturb your regular pc.

Hard drive definitely, unless you did some NSA strength wiping, all the data you have can be recovered. If you know how to install hardware into the computer, then possibly you might want the RAM, everything else that you didn't add in yourself, probably isn't work keeping unless you are a tinkerer.
Also, if you aren't aware, you can't throw your PC away. It must be taken to a specified location in your city to be recycled. It's unlawful to simply throw computer equipment away because it contains toxic and dangerous substances.

Greetings!
Well, that question is quite vague since you did not mention your computer's memory, motherboard, or even hard drive space.
Since I do not have an idea about your computer's information, I suggest this...
If you are to buy a new computer and try to lessen the budget, try to ask the pc technicians in your area to just detach whatever is worth keeping...
This may include a floppy drive, motherboard, hard drive, cd rom, cd writer, dvd writer, modem, sound card, video card and other hardwares such as cameras, scanners, mouse...
I hope this helps!

Agreed on the Hard Drive, but have you considered donating it to a charity or local school? You can get a small tax write off and help someone at the same time. Also do a search and find some hard drive erase programs that can clean up all of your information on that drive.

Save the hard drive, it can be cloned on to the new one. The old drive can then be used as an external backup. The rest can be recycled. Start with friends or schools. Anything not taken by others should go to a recycling center.

It depends. If it's fairly new, then more might be worth keeping than if it's old.
As a general rule, it's worth keeping the hard drive, unless you're very very sure you've deleted everything properly (Secure deleted it) to save anyone recovering the data.
The processor, RAM or HD might be worth keeping, though. Maybe even the graphics card.

Make sure everything is gone off your hard drive - you can use a product like killdisk, do not just reformat it and think the data is gone.
Don't throw it out, find a recycler in your community.

That depends on what you plan to do with them...
I would keep the hard disk, the processor, the VGA card, the hard disk the CD\DVD Roms and the floppy you may use them latter

Get a Macintosh, copy all your data to the Mac, hang on to the PC for about a month just to be sure you got everything, then toss it.
