I'M A BT ENGINEER. SO I DON'T LIKE BT, BUT IF THEY SAY THAT ORANGE HAVE NOT GOT ANY EQUIPMENT IN YOUR LOCAL EXCHANGE THAN YOU CAN NOT USE THEM.
GET BT TO CHECK YOUR LINE AND CONNECTION , THEN CHECK WITH A FRIEND TO SEE IF THEY HAVE A LAPTOP WITH BROADBAND ON THAT YOU CAN TEST ON YOUR ROUTER
CHECK TO SEE IF YOU CAN GET BB ON THE USB OR ETHERNET CONNECTIONS
THEN IF STILL HAVING PROBLEMS TELL BT THAT YOUR PAYING FOR AND WANT A GOOD SERVICE
YOU CAN WRITE TO BT COM PLAITS AT THE CHAIR MANS OFFICE CHECK THE WEB SITE BT.COM

Orange broadband is FREE, due to demand the process is much slower. Orange didn't anticipate it to be quite so popular, hence why you are left in the cold for 3 months. BT, what can one say. I bet you don't need a new wireless router, you need to speak with BT again, and make them tell you what you need to do to set up properly, the fault obviously lies with the initial set up. If you pay them, then you should recieve the full service. Fact, if not demand your money back.

Forget talktalk its another con! lots of people have been left without any service at-all. I have been with Tiscali for 12months now with no problems whatsoever! and they're probably one of the cheepest out there. Limited to 2mb at the mo but if speed is not an issue then go for that.
Also don't forget that when getting a new ISP they usually state that you need an exsisting BT line to connect through. Also find where your nearest exchange is as that can also effect your connection to BB. The further away from an exchange that you are the poorer the signal!

Can BT not replace the wireless router free of charge? Surely they want to keep your custom? If not ask Orange for the contract and look over it carefully, surely they cannot charge you for something that they have said they won't! I would trust what Orange says to be honest!

I would forget any other broadband company except virgin. They are the only one's that dont make you sign up for a year or 18 month contract. i would complain again to BT and say to them that you are going to complain to watchdog. As they are in breach of contract you are paying for a service that you are not getting.

It's also very important that you don't get tied down to a yearly contract. I have had many Broadband problems with my previous two ISP's, but third time lucky Virgin came to my rescue. They have been marvellous throughout the Broadband set-up and I have had no problems and now have a very speedy connection.

There are so many broadband companies I would shop around. I have been told that the Orange service is rather poor.

not sure what bt mean by a con, but they have got some very persuasive sales people. but anyway whatever you do, i wouldn't go with bt wireless as we have had nothing but trouble with connection and pc's since we got ours 3 weeks ago.
hope this helps you decide, good luck.

get conditions in writing from orange. that way, you will have legal redress if BT are correct.
My personal opinion is that BT are con-merchants
I now use NTL cable....I have had a few minor problems with them but my bills are considerably less than when I was with BT
