I need to write a story with the moral Rome was not built in a day

Compare the sad but true tale of beautiful Rebecca who partied all semester and had a great time but then crammed for her final exam all night on the final night, with plain Sally who never partied but did a little study each night and then only had to study for her final a few hours on the final night. Sally did not have the fun Rebecca had, but she did pass her final easily. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Rome was a great empire and ruled most of the known world at one time. BUT, that did not happen overnight. It took a long time. Thus, the saying that "Rome was not built in a day." The point is there are some things that take a long time to develop. That would be the theme of your story.

The 'original story' is not really a story at all. It points out that the city and empire of rome came as the result of hundreds of years of work and toil, and didn't spring up over night at the whim of a ruler.
Simply write a story about someone who wants to acieve great things in a short span of time and fails due to the moral in question.

The saying refers to Rome growing from a small city state to a vast empire and the many years it took. So the moral is nothing comes easy or fast to us. It takes hard work and time before we can see progress or improvement. You must be patient and not get frustrated if you do not see the fruits of your hard work right away.
