Trichtillomania (spelled wrong?) is a compulsion to pull your hair out. Some people just pull the hairs on their head, but some people also pull their eyelashes and eyebrows.
No one really knows why, but most people with trichtillomania pull when they're stressed.
I have my own hypothesis. When people experience pain, the body releases endorphines (feel-good chemicals) into the brain. My Abnormal Psych. professor once worked with a woman who used to punch herself nonstop in the face in order to get high off the endorphines her body produced. Eventually, the doctors put her on a medicine that blocked the endorphines; she stopped hitting herself almost immediately.
This woman was obviously mentally ill. I'm not saying *you're* crazy, but maybe in times of stress, people with trichtillomania inflict minor pain on themselves just for the relief chemicals. I dunno, though...its a thought....

I believe it to be a nervous thing or could be linked to stress and boredom. Many people do what seems strange things like this, some people pick their spots, bite thier nails, pull their hair out etc so the only way to find out is to see if there is a evolving pattern before you do it....
Are you upset or tired etc...... when you have established this then you may find the true reason as to why you pick your eyelashes.

Sometimes people's eyelashes just fall out into the eyes and it is hard to see especially if they have sensitive eyes and cannot see. Then they have to get the eyelashes out or else they could get more stressed out.

It's a form of OCD ( Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). You probably do it when you are overwhelemed or nervous. A lot of people do things like that. Actually, obsessivly twirling your hair is ever considered OCD so don't worry too much. Though, your eyelashes serve a purpose so you may want to try to stop yourself as much as possible.

I just do it when my mascara gets clumpy. It's probably just a bad habit.
