In the Middle East. It's east of Iraq and Turkey, south of the former Soviet Union states of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, and west of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Its southern border is on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
