I just installed a new 18x super multi DVD rewriter. I put a DVD in to watch to test and it doesn't detect the DVD. Cany anyone tell me what I've done wrong? Thanks!

Is this an internal DVD drive? Did it come with a driver disk? If so, did you follow the correct steps to load the drivers? Sometimes you have to load the drivers first, then install the device. With other devices, you install the device and then load the drivers. It can be maddening!

If you have done everything correctly, see if there are updated drivers on the Web site for the drive. If so, download the latest drivers and see if that fixes things.

Sometimes DVD drives allow you to choose the Region you are living in because different countires have different formats for DVDs. If the previous answer doesn't help go into the properites and select Region 1 (if you are in the US or Canada) but be carefull sometimes they only give you one chance to choose a region. (copyright reasons)
