It is probably a little late for China to actully do anything like that since they encouraged this action by North Korea in the first place. Talk about biting the hand that feeds!
Actually, I would hope the United States of America both supports and encourages China to act responsibily, rationally and quickly before this get out of hand.
You may not agree with me but I believe today, October 9, 2006 the world is more destabilized than during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.
Have fun but be safe!

Both Countries pose a threat to the West, china economically and NK (North Korea) with its aggresive militristic style.
The west would more then likely dis-agree to get involved, however whatever NATO decides is the best course of action. i would be guessing America will see it as their duty to intervine. Which will therefore pull the UK into a problamatic situation.
I believe that the West should not get involved, if a country wishes to have the ability to defend itself in extreme cases, with the use of nuclear weapons then so be it. However impose restrictions on its appropriate uses.
They should be used as a detterant never a weapon of death. After all Hiroshima was a Bloody Disgrace. And it showed the world why they should never be used as first resort.
North Korea hasnt made any major military threats for a long time, this should be enough of an indication that they merely want the chance to have a defence mechanism incase of an emergency.
I believe we should hold back and not get involved as if the west does it could spell the end of the 'west' as we know it

China & North Korea are close friends. There would be no invasion . The areas endangered by North Korean nuclear power are South Korea & Japan. The question then should be : If South Korea or Japan invade North Korea....
Of course neither of these countries will do this without the assent of the West.

Considering there seems to be no way to control North Korea, and their leader is way past the point of any logic, I'd say we'd most likely support China. So many nations advised them not to conduct that nuclear test, and they did it anyway, just like the last time. A country run by a madman, and that has no rationality, is the last place on earth that needs nukes, and they have them, so yeah, I'd say most of the world would support China.

If China wanted to take over North Korea I'd say go with my blessing.
My prediction is that Japan and South Korea will attack it though.

If there is the possibility of money to be made from this conflict then of course we will. I'm no expert on trade patterns from asia to the UK/USA, but am fairly confident we have a stronger reliance on China than we do on Korea.

China practically owns North Korea anyway, there won't be too much condemnation.

On the outside there would be mild tutting and empty threats, while on the inside, they'll just sit back and smile as China does the US's dirty work for them.
