What you should have done, but it is too late now, is when you get the update that is called Genuine Advantage Tool, available in your downloaded Updates, choose custom install, instead of express, then uncheck that one, then when it asks you if you want to be reminded again about that update, you say NO. That way you will never install that silly "Check if you have a stolen copy" tool, and you still get updates. It took me awhile to figure that out.

Please try this which is sure to work.

Go to start-search-all files and folders- type (wga). The list will appear try to delete all of them either from there itself or by going to the location it specifies. If you are unable to delete some of the wga's right click on them and rename them as abc or xyz. The restart your computer. Then go to search-all files and folders - and type what you renamed them as such as abc or xyz. THe list will appear and then delete them which you renamed. Restart your computer and the ballon will not be visible any longer.

This remedy is sure to work

Have a nice day.

The right thing to do is get a licence from microsoft. If you want to remove it anyway(at your own risk) then go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete files:
WgaTray
WgaLogon.dll
